Weathering Pink Eye

Un [insert expletive] believable! Because we just didn't have enough going on right now! Not only am I leaving for Florida tomorrow to visit my folks, somehow after being isolated for 2 snow days from all other children or people, Tobo has contracted pink eye. From the air apparently. Honestly, it really could be worse and he perked up almost immediately after his first dose of eye drops (you know, torture) so he is definitely on the mend. Still got no nap today, but on these inside days, I think it is really ok to shorten or skip the nap if it helps him sleep through the night. And I didn't feel like such an ogre last night since I let him up into our bedroom for a bit. Now I can pretend that my 6th mommy sense was able to tell he was sick. In reality it was because it had been 3 hours of up and down with him and I was just worn out. What was funny was that after being upstairs for a few minutes he decided our bed was too boring and had no goldfish so he bailed. It feels like the judo version of parenting.

A lot of the advice I got was really helpful. I don't know if it will work with our kid but at least we have options. The main theme I heard though was, "yeah, this is what happens now." That in itself was a relief. Making it feel like his behavior was a tisunami or flood. Act of Nature. I'm not causing it, nor am I able to prevent it from happening. All I can do is hunker down and weather it out. Kind of like our weather in Denver, come to think of it.

Just a note to say I'm doing much better tonight, though still kind of have a few lingering effects of what must have been bad food. Hope to be back at work tomorrow, though I will definitely be bringing my own lunch. (thinking of that sandwich makes me cringe) I didn't feel the need to go back to the doc since I'm mostly back to my old routine of meals and no longer need the anti-nausea meds.

I got a few things done around the house today but now I'm all kind of warn out. I even started working on the registry stuff yesterday, though still not nearly all that we need. I might have even decide on a crib and a car seat. (no joke!) But now I think I'm off to read something silly and then an early night tonight.

I think most of you are aware, but if you haven't visited uwee's blog, please do. Things have gotten a bit complicated for her and charlie, so I think she'd really appreciate the support right now.

Anyway thanks for your thoughts and prayers. I got a little scared. Ok, mainly this was because I'm a bit of chicken when It comes to being sick. I've been pretty much ok throughout the pregnancy, so not being in control of my body kind freaked me out. Can't wait to see what I'm going to do when it comes to labor. :/

nite all.

ice chips

So, some where between 1pm and 10pm yesterday I managed to eat something that totally didn't agree with me. I ended up going in to the doctor this morning after a very long night of vomiting and diarrhea. I'm now sucking ice chips to stay hydrated because I can't keep a glass of water down. I'm very happy to have the anti-nausea stuff they gave me. Hopefully tonight will be better. I'm giving it the full 48 hours to see if it will go away, otherwise I'm going back to the doctor on Monday to say, nope it's a flu bug. :(

Tobo is fine so far, kicking a lot more than he normally does, which I'm total is normal when momma is sick. I also got to find out that the glucose test came back as 130, 5 points lower than the cut off point so no further work is required. That at least is good news.

So i may or may not be talking to anyone tomorrow depending on how I feel. Please pray for me that this is just food poisoning and will relent tomorrow after a night of sleep.

plague

So Paul came down with something on Tuesday, I picked it up by Thursday evening. We went to the doctor yesterday and found out that I have a viral cold and he has a viral cold++ (includes ear infection). The fix for these are sleep and liquids. (with added antibiotics for Paul) Ended up staying home and sleeping for Friday. The good news is that none of this effects Tobo, who is currently the healthiest and most active member of the family. :) Anyway, we are scheduled for sleeping and drinking OJ for the next couple of days, so if we miss your call or email, we will try to catch up with you later.
