Happy New Year! We are back from the trip of holiday goodness and just about well from our head colds, which we passed out like presents to all our near and dearest.
My third trimester starts tomorrow (as exact as things are) which means I'm about to start really looking like a blimp, not just feeling like one. I'm still feeling pretty good except for the occasional fatigue and pelvic bone stretching. Didn't realize how much fun that would be. I also have a tendency to stare off into space for entire evenings so hardly anything seems to be getting done. I've stated my last day of work at cp, (2/15) so now I just have to get through the next 3 pay checks and I'm home free. I'll be talking with ACME soon to set up the part time work, probably in March.
I went to my Jan prenatal apt yesterday and everything is going well with Tobo. I'm suppose to start monitoring fetal kick counts every day or so to make sure he's still doing what he's suppose to be doing. I've not been too worried about it because he is acting exactly the same way he has through the whole pregnancy. (2 days quiet, 1 day loud) Everything still looks good, including my weight, my iron and everything else they test. My blood pressure was up a bit, but not by much. We should be getting the results back for the glucose test this week too. I'm slightly expecting this to come back as high, but we'll see.
I did find out that this doctor's group will induce a week after your due date unless you plead your case for staying pregnant longer. They won't force it, but that all depends on how mom and baby are doing. So the good news I will not be pregnant after my 41st week, and the baby will be here no later than 4/15/08. I don't know if that helps with anyone's travel plans, but at least we have a cut off date. I'm so looking forward to meeting this little guy outside of my body. :)
I'm also getting a lot of requests for baby showers, so I have a question about etiquette. I had thought to combine the showers since most of the same people would get invited to both, but now there is a third one so...
1. How big is too big for a baby shower?
2. Would any of the planners be insulted if I asked if we could combine one or more showers?
3. I shouldn't invite the same people to all the showers, right?
Paul is already being a chicken and bailing on a men and women together shower. He is not manly enough to face the diaper game or the "what does this smell like?" game. :) I still have to get registered for stuff and put in an order for furniture. Hopefully this weekend I can fit it into my busy schedule of wool-gathering.

Size doesn't matter with a baby shower. I went to one that had 4 people at a house; I went to one that had absolutely everyone (probably close to 40 people) held at a restaurant. Both were fine, depending on what the hostess wants to do.
Typically, as like wedding showers, each "section" of people like to throw their own. However, if you have many of the same people that would be invited more than once, I think it would be tactful to invite them to only one. Especially if it would involve travel.
Hopefully, you could get the word out through a mother/in-law or someone else close to the hostess, and they could let the hostess know your desires. After all, when you're in your third trimester, it should be pleasant and non-stressful for you!
Register! Register! Not that I'm buying you anything else. ;) But oh, I will send you our swing since Anna no longer uses it for its intended purpose (just leans on it and primps in the mirror), so don't reg for that. Also sling and misc small stuff I'm sure. I will also get you some info on what the heck to do with the dipes I gave you!
