We're back from the wilds of pensacola. Tobo and I went to visit his grandparents (my parents) and great grandma in florida over the last week. So my solo parenting started the night before I left since Paul was at the Senior high retreat pretending to be responsible. Tobo and I did manage to get to the airport via friends who were also going out of town, even though I managed to twinge my back packing that morning. So I became that lady with the kid in the airport with 5 millions things (okay, really just a car seat, a sling, a frame-stroller, and one big diaper bag) who you think - "how does she manage?" With lots of grace from my fellow travelers, apparently. I got lots of help from other traveling moms, who would send their husbands/partners over to "help that lady get that stroller." Tobo slept through all the actual flying, including the last trip which ended with a disposable diaper disintegrating all over both of us. Good times. My first favorite moments of the trip was when Tobo manage to lift the latch on his seat belt (apparently they are the developmental level of a 6month old) which was holding his car seat in. My second favorite moment was when Tobo lunged for the window and didn't realize there was a second pane of glass. It's the only time he cried on the plane and we spent the next half hour exploring this invisible barrier between us and the sky.
The visit itself was really good. My folks finally got a chance to hang out with Tobo. The first night tobo didn't sleep at all, but eventually got back in to a routine by Wednesday. (thankfully) I survived being parent in charge. I think I needed that boost of confidence to prove to myself that I could do it and that tobo would be fine.
Tobo is now around 17 lbs. His toes were about hanging over the infant carseat, so the first thing we did once we were back was head out to target to get a new convertable seat. (one that can be put in the car either forward or backward) Little did I know target was having a sale this week on carseats. So as long as you don't mind the color being brown, the price was good. (brown or pink were the choices). He's comfortable filling out 6-9 months and 3-6's are getting to tight/short.
Since I've joined ww, I've lost 8lbs, even loosing when I was out of town. That puts me at 45lbs lost since my highest with Tobo, 20lbs down from pre-baby. Hurray me.
well, back to work.
I totally forgot to mention - so Tobo has become an accomplished play-pen sleeper. He eventually figured out we were not abandoning him in a box, but that it was an ok sleeping area.
He's also started this crouch and pivot thing that looks like it may turn into a crawl some day. He still cries when he sees us because parents are really the fastest way to get some where. He enjoys playing with the lace on our throw pillows a lot. Gosh hope that is hypoallergenic. He's not pulling up on anything yet, but he does enjoy standing and holding on to furniture if you put him there.
His sleeping schedule since he's been back has been a bit wonky. Teething is still a problem so, between that and tylonel the last few nights, he's been sleeping block of 3 hours, up for 2 hours, block of 3 hours. I'm thinking about trying to move our "go back to sleep" station to his room. He really doesn't need to be rocked back to bed in our room anymore, I do it more for company than for any really good reason.
