Yesterday I had to get 3 cavities filled most of them in one corner of my mouth. As Paul will attest, I am a very grumpy person when I come home from the dentist, last night was no different. grumpy grumpy grumpy momma. Really tired dad who is getting over a cold. Add in hyper little boy who woke up 40 minutes after being put to bed and well, we were at a loss as what to do.
We ended up trying controlled crying (by supernanny). For what its worth it worked. After 50 minutes of crying and comforting he eventually went from hyper to asleep. (He was playing in his crib when I left the first time, didn't even notice I was gone) Then he was awake again 45 minutes later. I got him back down after a much needed change and a little more food. [I wish I had thought to check his diaper, that was after all what was making him dance like he had ants in his pants. ] But I don't believe dad had a good night with him from 2 to 3:30. He whimpered again at 4:30, but as I was getting the bottle set up he went back to sleep and slept until 7:30a. He did his usually morning monologue until about 8, when I finally got my butt out of bed to fetch him. I found him standing up in his sleep sack waiting for me (again with a much needed diaper change waiting, as well as leakage). So that was kind of cool.
I didn't really want to change what we've been doing so close to christmas travel, but then again, who wants to be working through that when we're on the road. Don't get me wrong. The whole event had both me and paul wrapped up in knots listening to him. I know that consistency is the many thing we need to work on. I just hate doing this.
On the food front, the cantaloupe seems to be acceptable. He doesn't eat much of it, but enjoys picking it up and putting it in his mouth. (much like cheerios) And he will pick up and try to use the sippy cup, with varying levels of success.
Today, my goal is to try to finish some more of the baby proofing that has just been waiting to be taken care of. Tobo is getting into everything in his room that is not latched down, so it's a problem. Can't leave him for a second before he's making a break for the drawers on his dresser or the electrical outlet. The smell in there is much better than before. We just needs to figure out how to insulate it better. We'll probably continue to need a space heater in there if we're going to keep tobo asleep more solidly. Luckily by the time he's able to get out of his crib, we'll be around to spring and summer again and won't need it.
Oh, and after all that dental work, it looks like I'm going to have to go back and have them even out the filling (it's too tall). Woo Hoo. :P
