June 2008:

one year (approximately) later:

I haven't written much again, but thought I'd share from our travel to the cabin this weekend. Amazing how much he's changed in just a year.

A few funny things that happened last week:
  • Tobo and I found a john deere tractor flashlight with wheels and engine noise and everything. It promptly stopped working probably as soon as we got it home.
  • A friend and I tried to take our kids out for lunch at the Egg and I. It really almost worked if her little one wasn't so fried. I think we agreed we'd try again this time for breakfast.
  • This lead to Tobo falling asleep in the car one the way to the store. I figured he'd wake up when I unbuckled him. Apparently not. He slept as I got him in the sling, shopped, wresled him back into the car got him and the groceries into the house, only to wake up as soon as I put him in the crib. Go figure. :D
  • Up at the cabin tobo worked on not only going up stairs but going down them properly. We moved the pressure gate we bring up a few steps so he could practice without getting all the way up. He's doing really good at going "feet first" now.
  • I got something that sounded a lot like "bread" the other day, he's also definitely meowing when he sees a kitty, and is wickedly interested in our laptops. This is one of the reasons I don't write or check in as often. It sends tobo into a proto-tantrum. I'm told that these get worse in time. I've told him in 7 more months he's going to learn what a time out is all about.
And one more cause he's so gosh darn cute:

That last one is uber gosh darn cute.

FYI we did some mini time outs long before two. I'm not sure if you meant you are waiting till then but I would think it might be too late then/easier to get him used to it now. For serious infractions, short period of time, of course. Our doctor recommended one minute for each year.

I second what Wendy said about timeouts. Plus, Charlie too is way too interested in our laptop and screams when he can't touch it. Love those tantrums.
