Nov 12: full disclosure vs too much information

When to say what. That's kind of what I'm thinking about today. We all have family events and, depending on the family, we either have a culture of telling everyone we know or not saying boo until there is nothing to be done. When your blogging, I think there is an added level of cathartic dump vs sensitivity to others who are involved.

As a missionary accountable to a group of prayer partners, if I don't give you a chance to pray for me, how is that having faith that God is listening? Prayer should ideally not be the last thing we do, it should be the first thing we do. And that is very backwards to my inclination. Prayer first, means we are stepping out in faith that God is in control and we are showing our obedience. Praying last means often that we are hedging our bets, or treating prayer as some kind of bartering system. (I do this, you do that, I get results, etc.) Ancient prayer worked a lot like that. I give you an offering, you give me a blessing, and we're good until the next pressing need.

But really, how do you draw the line? Once you release the information in to the wild, you loose control over it. Also, by withholding information, do you make it worse? I guess all I will say now is my extended family is currently going through an event. Please pray for us.
