Nov 9: file dump

I tried to be flexible about my plans, but they are plans. This was one of those days where we were on plan Q by about noon. [Plan Quelle, determined by German historians to be a plan reflected in they synoptic plans A and B but a lost source] I hope I manage it with some grace, but I know I can be a bit grouchy if left to my own devices. The biggest problem right now is that I've had short nights for about 6 days for one reason or another, so I don't really have control over what my mouth is saying. No filter. I just say what comes to mind, it just pops out of my mouth. This is probably a positive when it comes to blogging.

The big event this weekend other than the retreat and a boy called boy, is that my new macbook pro completely didn't complete it's migration from my old machine. I finally got a chance to sit down and troubleshoot it today, but not after a lot of hair tearing and carrying on. It was like a hang nail. I had other things to do and I just couldn't help but poke at it during the day. Fortunately we had kind of a quiet day today, what with Tobo sleeping for most of it. He was one exhausted puppy after talking all night last night from 11p to 4a.

Eventually I found that I had to turn off Airport and all other network connections to get the Migration Assistant to work properly. This would have been really good to know 3 days ago when I originally was working on moving things over. Once I did that, it copied basically a complete set of all my user profiles over from my old G4 powerbook, including third party software like InDesign and Quark, Quicken, etc in about an hour. It was pretty cool. My IPhoto library is again in one piece. I can move my personal files off of a firewire drive I have from work, its good. The one sticking point is I'm having trouble getting my mail application to respond properly. But after I fixed the networking issue, Migration Assistant was very handy.
