rice cereal and sob stories

So, this will be day 3 of rice cereal for lunch, and so far Tobo has been 'chomping at the bit' whenever he sees the spoon and bowl come out. So I think we've got a food eater. If he's still doing well on cereal after Friday, we'll probably add a second meal and see how it goes. I can't find anything written down that talks about how gradually you need to add meals (only how to watch for food allergies), so I'm assuming 5 days is sufficient to react to rice cereal if he's going to. And these days, he looks at us as we're eating dinner like "So where's my dinner?" He's not really eating more than a tablespoon at a meal, but he's very happy about it as he's eating it.

Sad to say, I think this is also because he hasn't been nursing enough because of the teething. SO, we switch to plan B tomorrow. Plan B is that we get the breast pump back and start bottle feeding him until he's over this teething phase. It could be a week, or a month or two months, but I can't stand to having him screaming when I put him to the breast anymore. You have no idea. We've also burned through any milk we had in storage, so this will also help us get back on track and away from expensive formula. We did try frozen teethers, oral gel for babies, and half a dose of baby tylonel, none of which were enough to get him to nurse. Bottles are easier to eat from because he doesn't have to suck, which causes his gums to hurt more.

Sleep-wise, it looks like the baby tylonel _is_ enough so he doesn't wake up out of his light sleep cycle. So, we'll try that tonight at the 1am feeding and see how it goes. I'm about silly-tired, when I'm not being morse. Must get more sleep. Anyway, Tobo only did 3 naps today, none of which were over 40 minutes long. It's like trying to hit a moving target, sometimes. We figure out something just in time to have something else go screwy. I can totally see why people move to formula when their kids start solids.

Ok, done with the complaining. Thanks for listening! :)

We were told 3-5 days on one food before we try something new; that is long enough to see a reaction.
Good for tobo! Well, the eating that is.

Oh yeah, and we found cloths; those soft baby washcloths, in cold water, is great for teething. A friend actually freezes hers for the baby. We found Charlie loves ribbon & clothing best for teething.
